When One is Tickled – One is Loved
by
Esther Barnes - 12 years old

People always wonder why they cannot tickle themselves, but someone else can tickle them.
The reason is if we could tickle ourselves we would not feel loved. We would just feel lonely.
When a loved one tickles us we feel loved, and not lonely.
We all love to have someone love us, and to tickle one another, and to giggle and talk to one another.
God made it so we could not tickle ourselves so that a loved one could tickle us and make us feel loved.
Don’t try tickle yourself. It doesn’t work. Have a loved one tickle you so you can feel loved.

Distant Shores

Distant Shores
What are these whisperings in my soul?
What is this voice within my saying?
What are these steps the winds of time would change for me
What are these doors through which I must pass, to me now swaying
What are these former distant shores now close approaching?
Wherein is the meaning of these endless white sands now appearing?
And why ten thousand palms singing in this living wind
A song I have then long sought, it is now that I am hearing.
At last I can hear that lovely song
From former distant shores that I now see
A melody of peace and calm and happiness
A rhapsody by God composed especially for me
Upon this passing ship I now can rest
Though the winds may blow and seas be tossed
For I see the distant shores now close
The night has ended, I know my way, I am no longer lost
My rudder set by God's own hand
I need not worry of the way
No longer am I pressed by night
I have entered into the morning of The Day
I myriad of raptured voices
Hear I singing in the breeze
To welcome home this weary soul
Now, glory-stricken to my knees
Home! Home! My ship has passed the night!
As I approach the distant shores the glories do abound
Home! Home! My soul in such delight
No longer am I lost my friend, I am forever found
My tiny, tiny little ship
Through giant seas have passed
Amazing that it found its way
To these distant shores at last.
THE ROSE AND THE SPIRIT

THE ROSE AND THE SPIRIT
How like a rose is the spirit of man.
As the warmth of the morning sun gently touches the budding rose so too does the son of god touch the budding spirit of man. The keeper of the rose garden first removes the stones than gently turns the soil. With lovingly care the rose bud blooms into the perfect rose. As the gardener must first remove the stones so too must the Lord remove the stony heart and gentle turn the soul. Some rose gardens fill up with weeds, some seeds fall by the wayside, but it is the seeds that fall on fertile ground that the Lord will proclaim here is my perfect rose.
